On November 28, 2023, all 41 workers trapped inside the collapsed tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India, were rescued. The rescue operation, which began on November 12, 2023, was a major success.
The tunnel collapse occurred at around 5:30 AM on November 12, 2023, when a portion of the Silkyara Bend-Barkot tunnel, under construction, collapsed. The tunnel is part of the Char Dham Highway, a major road project in Uttarakhand.
